About Alzheimer Society Timmins-Porcupine District Inc.

The Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine District is a non-profit, registered charity serving the Cochrane and Temiskaming (Porcupine) regions in Northern Ontario. Mission & Purpose Their mission is “to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer disease and related dementias, and to promote research.” They aim to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia, their caregivers, and families through support, education, advocacy, and community awareness. Services & Programs They offer a range of free or low-cost services in both English and French, in communities across their region. Some of their key offerings include: Support & counselling for individuals with dementia, as well as their caregivers and families Educational programs and workshops to increase understanding and capacity among care partners, professionals, and the public First Link® referral services, which help connect people newly diagnosed (or at risk) with supports and services in the community. Day programs, support groups, and resources such as printed materials, videos, and community awareness campaigns. Safety tools like Finding Your Way®, a dementia safety resource, to assist people living with dementia and their families.
