About Disability Resource Centre for Independent Living
The Disability Resource Centre for Independent Living supports people with disabilities to live independently in their communities. It provides information and referral services to local and provincial programs, as well as peer support, where people with similar realities share their experiences. The centre also provides individual and group training to develop independent living skills, and administers the Direct Funding program, which allows adults with disabilities to manage the employment of their own personal support workers for activities of daily living. It also collaborates with local authorities on the municipality's accessibility plan and manages the Local Accessible Transportation Service (KABS).
