About Alan Spacek - (individual membership)
Alan Spacek is a businessman, former mayor of Kapuskasing and longtime advocate for Northern Ontario. Born and raised in Kapuskasing, he built his career owning and operating several businesses while remaining involved in community service. He served as mayor from 2006 to 2018, completing three terms before retiring from municipal office. During his time as mayor, Alan also served for eight years as President of the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM), representing northern communities and advocating for their priorities. His involvement has included the Kapuskasing and District Chamber of Commerce, the Northeastern Ontario Municipal Association and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. He currently chairs both the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) and the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission, bringing his business and municipal experience to provincial governance and northern transportation. His work has focused on economic development, stronger businesses and community services, with involvement in education, justice and health. Alan maintains local ties as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 85. Outside his public service, he enjoys hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with family and friends.
