About Nord-Aski Community Futures

Nord-Aski (or Nord-Aski REDC) is a regional economic development corporation based in Hearst, Ontario, that functions in the capacity of a Community Futures / CFDC for several rural communities in Northeastern Ontario. Its mission is to help northern rural communities strengthen and diversify their economies by creating new jobs and supporting the stability of existing employment. Nord-Aski provides business advisory services on various topics, shares information about government support programs, and supports all phases of business development: startup, acquisition, expansion, and modernization. It is also involved in community economic development (CED) and strategic planning by collaborating with local stakeholders (municipalities, organizations, private sector, Indigenous communities) to formulate regional visions and development plans. The organization serves communities along Highways 11 and 631, including Hearst, Hornepayne, Constance Lake First Nation, and Mattice-Val Côté. Nord-Aski receives federal funding (through FedNor) to support operations, enhance business support roles, and manage regional investment funds such as the Northeastern Ontario Investment Pool, enabling them to provide loans or capital to small and medium-sized enterprises.
