Explore our vision and key initiatives for strengthening the local economy

Strategic Plan
1. đź’ˇ Value Propositions
Expanding the mandate of the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce will contribute to the economic growth and stability of rural Northern Ontario. Currently, there are no other active chambers within this corridor. Communities without their own Chamber can greatly benefit from the services offered by the Northern Corridor Chamber, eliminating the need for them to create or fund a new organization. The Chamber is already fully operational, with an office, a dedicated website, and a team of trained staff ready to serve.
2. 👥 Customer Segment
The Chamber’s expanded service area includes the municipalities of Smooth Rock Falls, Fauquier, Moonbeam, Kapuskasing, Val Rita, Opasatika, Mattice-Val Côté, and Hearst. Our core customers are local businesses, not-for-profits, and community organizations operating in these areas.
3. 📡 Channels
To reach and engage these municipalities, the Chamber must partner with local mayors, BIAs (Business Improvement Areas), and economic development officers. Their endorsement and promotion are crucial to expanding our visibility and impact. Organizing introductory meetings with each municipal economic partner will help showcase the Chamber’s services, build trust, and foster long-term collaboration.
4. 🤝 Customer Relationships
The Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce will foster strong relationships with its members by promoting its vision, mission, and value across multiple platforms: website, social media, local radio, and printed publications. Providing prompt customer service, engaging content, and user-friendly online systems (such as payment and registration portals) will enhance member satisfaction.
A critical part of this strategy is the Chamber’s rebrand from the Kapuskasing & District Chamber of Commerce to the Northern Corridor Chamber of Commerce—a move that reflects our expanded regional mandate.
5. đź’° Revenue Streams
Revenue is generated through diverse sources, including:
- Membership fees
- Event sponsorships and ticket sales
- Grants and funding
- Advertising (digital and print)
- Enhanced online business directory listings
- Chamber-led programs and campaigns
6. đź› Key Activities
Information & Resource Sharing
A weekly e-newsletter informs members of upcoming events, government updates, new opportunities, and local business promotions. It also highlights new members, features a "Member of the Week," and promotes community activities.
Business Referrals
The Chamber serves as a trusted referral source for local businesses.
Chamber Advocacy
We represent the voice of small business at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels, advocating for policies that support economic growth in our region.
Visibility & Promotion
All members receive listings in both the online and printed business directories. Optional enhanced listings provide more visibility and include the ability to promote events. Members can also advertise in our newsletter or sponsor networking events. Member brochures and business cards are displayed at the Chamber office.
Grand Opening Services
We assist businesses with grand opening celebrations—providing giant ceremonial scissors, inviting local dignitaries (including the mayor), and promoting the event via our social media channels.
Networking Events
The Chamber hosts regular events that allow members to connect, share ideas, and build lasting business relationships.
Industry Roundtables
We provide forums where members can share concerns and challenges directly with the Chamber and one another. These insights inform our advocacy efforts and the development of support programs.
Education & Professional Development
We offer free or low-cost workshops and webinars to help members sharpen their skills and grow professionally.
Programs & Initiatives
The Chamber creates initiatives that address local challenges—such as Think Local campaigns, job fairs, and Member-to-Member (M2M) savings programs.
Discounted Services & Offers
Through partnerships with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, our members access exclusive discounts on insurance, fuel, shipping, office supplies, benefit plans, and more. The M2M program also enables members to receive local business discounts from fellow members.
